Meet Denise Yearwood
Denise Yearwood is the founder and creative force behind Yearwood Interior Designs. Her passion for design was sparked by the colonial architecture of her native Guyana, South America, where the Atlantic coastal landscape and historic buildings left a lasting impression. After moving to the United States, Denise pursued a successful career as a financial analyst.
In 2004, she shifted gears to launch Designer Window Treatments, a business focused on creating custom window treatments. Motivated to offer comprehensive, high-quality design solutions, Denise then earned an MFA in Interior Architecture and Design from the Academy of Art University. This milestone marked the rebranding of her business as Yearwood Interior Designs, unlocking new opportunities for collaboration and growth.
Denise approaches every project with a philosophy rooted in timeless design, functional beauty, and refined elegance. She is known for her ability to truly understand each client’s needs, lifestyle, and budget—creating spaces that feel as good as they look.

We hired Yearwood Interior Designs firm to lead several interior design projects at our home. Denise and I first met 15 years ago when I purchased a large home in Frederick. She supplied all of the window treatments for my home and helped with color selections and materials that proved to be on trend and long lasting in style and durability. We recently reconnected to update the interior design in my home and she has proved invaluable in recommendations for color, style and fabrication.
